Melasma is a bothersome skin condition that can become incredibly frustrating for the patient. The red, splotchy patches typically occur after pregnancy, birth control pills, or other hormonal changes. While melasma can fade on its own with time, the skin condition doesn’t go away nearly fast enough for the majority of women.
Dr. Cherly Geer routinely sees both women and men that have exhausted all of their at-home resources for the problem. One of her go-to treatments for combatting aggressive melasma is the Halo Non-Ablative laser. Treatments are quick, easy, and virtually painless.
How Does Halo Non-Ablative Work?
Halo Non-Ablative is a highly-custom procedure. Patients can address both mild and severe concerns with the unique laser treatment. Halo Non-Ablative uses pulses of thermal energy to target and break down pigmentation problems deep within the skin. Pigmented lesions are either naturally reabsorbed or flake off over time.
Depending on the treatment area and the severity of your condition, treatments can be done in as little as 30-minutes. Halo Non-Ablative treatments are comfortable without the need for any topical anesthetic. Most patients can schedule their melasma treatment into their normal routine without any problems.

Halo Non-Ablative: Recovery & Results
Downtime is limited with Halo Non-Ablative. Mild treatments can be done without the need for any recovery. More aggressive treatments can have 1-2 days of downtime. Side effects are typically minimal after treatment. However, you may experience some redness, tenderness, or swelling for several hours after treatment.
Pigmented melasma will gradually darken several days following your procedure, then flake away over days 7-10. Afterward, you’ll be left with a smoother, clearer complexion. More than one treatment may be needed to get the results you want depending on the severity and location of your condition.
Is Halo Non-Ablative Right for Me?
You may be a good fit for Halo Non-Ablative if your melasma is affecting your self-confidence on a daily basis. Visibly reduce the appearance of melasma patches with a minimally-invasive procedure. Dr. Geer will assess your concerns and speak with you about your goals before customizing a treatment plan that’s right for you.
Best doctor I’ve ever been to. She really takes the time to listen to your concerns, and addresses all of them.
