Ultrasound Exams
At Center for Women’s Well Being, we offer ultrasound exams to provide detailed images of internal organs and tissues. Ultrasound technology uses sound waves to create images, which are used for diagnostic purposes. Dr. Geer and our team use ultrasound exams to assess various medical conditions. At Center for Women’s Well Being, we use ultrasounds as our preferred diagnostic tool for the abdomen, gallbladder, kidneys, and pelvic region. A transvaginal ultrasound may be enlisted for a closer look at the uterus and ovaries.
What to Expect During Your Ultrasound Exam
Ultrasounds are done in-office and examinations often take less than 30-minutes to complete. To prepare, you’ll be asked to wear loose-fitting clothing for your exam. Depending on the area being examined, you may need to change into a gown. In most cases, you will be positioned lying face-up on an examination table that can be tilted or moved. The technician will apply a warm water-based gel to the examination area before guiding a transducer handpiece over the area. Ultrasounds are extremely safe and generally comfortable.
